Student Management System for National Vocational Training Institute (Niyagama)

Abstract

National Vocational Training Institute (Niyagama) according to present situation, many of student’s activities done by manually. All information is not recorded in ordered manner. Some student records are not available for several months, also they can be lost or missed place. Currently it is very hard to handle students’ daily attendance and calculating 80% attendance for each course manually. Also hard to collect instalment basis payments according to correct time period for each course. Student’s records are not available in one central location, update information of students may not correctly get into students records. Arise duplication records and time wasting when finding a record or information related to particular student. In this project I mainly applied customer major requirements to do best for my customer. As a result of that using this project NVTI- Niyagama staff can add, delete view and update student information, course details, payment details and attendance. Also can do students registration and generate reports registration details course vice. Furthermore they can do students payments and generate reports course vice student payment details. Not only that this facilitate to show overdue payments. Easy to insert student daily attendance to the system. Download and upload course teaching aids for students. To develop this system I use XAMPP v 3.2.2 (PHP, MySQL and Apache). All three software applications are free to use and download so customer not need to pay for software requirements also it is added advantage to upgrade system software very easily. I use sql commands for backend activities. This system established using Software engineering techniques. System shelters all the functional and nonfunctional requirements of the client. They are operational suitably and user friendly, conduct web based through internet. System is provide help page for customer. Otherwise system be able to help through e-mail by contacting them. Using this student management system NVTI- Niyagama staff can do their student activities very easily. All the information are stored in central location. As a result of that up to date update information can capture very easily, furthermore easy to find data using searching in digital media. Using this student management system avoid data redundancy and time saving. Real time they test the system with real data and they achieve more advantage from this system.
