User Group Portal supported by a Browser Plug-in

Abstract

It is very useful to have some means for people working together to share the valuable information they find with others. There are lot of tools and utilities available to fulfil this task. When considering a group of people such as research groups who will be using Internet extensively to find relevant information sources, it would be a good idea to have some mechanism for them to share the information sources they find with other group members then and there.

The idea of this project is to find an easy to use mechanism to share useful Internet URL’s a group member come across with other group members while ensuring the security and integrity of the sharing information. Meantime provide an extensively user-friendly web portal where group members can view the uploaded URL’s with added information.

Currently I ‘m researching on the possibility of supporting this requirement by using a browser plug-in which will be installed on the group member’s computer. The user should be able to send the URL information as well as his/her comments about the URL and the category the URL belongs to etc.. to the group portal using just one button click.
