Title: E-LEARNING MODULE FOR PROFESSIONAL ISSUES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Authors: Peiris, T.C.N.
Issue Date: 13-Nov-2013
Abstract: E-Learning provides access to learning when you want it; at the time you want it, wherever you want it. For many students this has opened up a new, much more flexible and accessible world of learning that was previously closed to them. SCORM is a suite of technical standards that enable web-based learning systems to find, import, share, reuse, and export learning content in a standardized way. The content developed in this E-Learning module is SCORM compatible. There are several SCORM compatible E-Learning material development tools available. But for this E-Learning module, Macromedia Authorware 7 was used because of it’s unique features and because of the ability to create highly interactive rich media E-learning content. Students who want to become professionals in the information technology field needs to have a clear idea about professional issues. So it’s equally important to have a proper module to learn professional issues in IT. This dissertation discusses the attempt made by the author to create an E-Learning module for professional issues in IT. In the E-Learning module students will have the opportunity to learn online, answer for multiple-choice questions for each topic they learn, view summary of the quizzes they answered. When learning they have the opportunity to learn using examples, which includes text, pictures animated graphics and flash movies etc. The best path for a student is selected through his or her interaction through the module. End of topic quizzes use the knowledge objects provided by Authorware. The summary at the end of each quiz can be used as an indicator to identify whether a student has sufficient knowledge about that particular topic.
