Title: An E-Learning Package On Project Management & Software Quality Management
Authors: Mahadanaarachchi, N.P.
Issue Date: 13-Nov-2013
Abstract: E-Learning is the effective learning process created by the communications revolution, combining digitally delivered content using new multimedia technologies and the internet with learning support services. Purpose of this project is to develop content as an interactive multimedia learning material based on the Software Project Management and Software Quality Management (IT5201) syllabus offered as one of the major subjects in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), external degree programme conducted by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). As lectures are not delivered by UCSC they provide an E-learning course for the students as a help. This is conducted by the E-learning Center of UCSC and delivered using the Learning Management System (LMS) platform developed and maintained by THEducation AB, Stockplm, Sweden. The students will get an additional help by this courseware and will enable learners to transform information into knowledge and problem solving skills for the above subject and they can use it directly to their projects as well. This courseware will contain SCORM compliant multimedia module contents from chapters 6-10 with the features such as interactivity, help facility, find facility, Glossary and bookmark. The pedagogical and technological requirements of learner-centered learning environments are considered as for gaining the back ground knowledge and system design. The most widely used authoring tools for implementing multimedia learning materials are reviewed, along with descriptions of the chosen, and reason for that choice. A multimedia teaching program, developed with Authorware 7.01, will be presented to demonstrate the capability and effectiveness of multimedia elements in the teaching learning process. A critical evaluation of the capabilities and limitations of the learning material is offered, based on the user testing and system testing. Finally suggestions are made for further developments and modifications of the learning material.
