Online Invoicing System

Abstract

This report illustrates an online invoicing system developed for Arthur C Clarke Institute of Modern Technologies (ACCIMT), to replace the present paper based, less efficient process. ACCIMT is involved in Research & Development projects in the field of electronics, communications, information technology and space technology applications. Development projects are client based and it is required to invoice the customer at several phases to collect payments. It is not possible to keep track of the invoices and correspondence made with the client regarding the invoices with the present manual system. Therefore the Online Invoicing System developed by the author, fulfills the long felt need of the ACCIMT to have an online information system to provide the financial details of projects to the relevant decision makers for improved decision making process.

The Online Invoicing System developed is client-server application based on Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, and the documentation is based on Unifying Modeling Language (UML). Data entry errors are minimized through the user- friendly graphical interfaces. Different levels of authority are provided for users security purposes. The system has the flexibility to develop further to integrate with existing automated systems of ACCIMT and further to make web based.
