Web Based Information and Resource Monitoring System for Department of Education - North Western Province

Abstract

This MIS plan to cater to the needs of information requirement of the Provincial Education Department of North Western Province. Basically it is planned to support Physical Resource Management and handle School Census Data. This system will use by Provincial Director and other officers in Planning Division. They allocate Resource such as Buildings, Furniture, Human Resources such as Teachers, office assistants, management assistants, laborers etc., and other facilities through the schools based on cense data. School census data are collected from each school through the Principals. Collecting these data and preparing summary reports are the major problems faced today. They take long time to process the data and up-to-date information is not available. Examination results are used to measure the quality of education. Collecting exam result of each exam and comparing them are some other areas giving difficulties. These are essential to give feedback and monitor the school system. Developing a web based Information and Resource Monitoring system will be solving these major problems. Obtaining necessary reports and using them to budgeting purposes of the planning division and arrange major allocation for essential sections will be increased through this process. Web based information and resource monitoring system will also support not only for the planning division but also the people who interested in viewing census data and some other details such as school achievements, vacancies, special school events etc. so this attempt will be more helpful to the Education Department of NWP and also may apply to the other provinces without any major changes,
