Authors: Rajapakse, S.N.
Issue Date: 8-Nov-2013
Abstract: With the technology improvements, maintenance of the vehicles becomes more complex. Vehicle manufacturers recommend to stick as much as possible to the maintenance schedule they have issued. There is a necessity of a computerized system in tracking all maintenance and repairs. The aim of the project is to develop software, which will satisfy all the requirements regarding the vehicle maintenance and support managerial staff as well as clerical and technical staff. This will include generating periodic reports and the reminders to the customers. The system facilitates to create & schedule all types of maintenance jobs with the same simple interface. Regular maintenance on vehicles can be scheduled by time or by meter readings on the vehicle. In addition the client can use history reports to review past maintenance work done as well as identify work that was missed. The important feature of the system is high reusability and expandability because it has been designed with more independent modules and classes. Furthermore it is highly flexible in interacting with other related systems. The report will discuss the requirement for such system and the development approach of the software.
