Abstract: | Students population of the External Examination Branch (Currently Centre for Open and Distance Learning – CODL) of university of Kelaniya is nearly 50,000 and CODL conducts five degrees. Which are BA(General), BA(Special), BCom(Special), BBMgt(General) and BSc(General). Sixteen exams and Sixteen Seminars are conducted annually for enrolled external students in above five degrees. The CODL required a MIS for handling following transactions. 1. Students Registration for External Degree Courses 2. Conducting seminars for all 16 exams 3. Conducting exams for all five degrees 4. Renew students annually 5. Answer Scripts Packets delivery to examiners 6. Marks Calculating & Results generating (or results processing) 7. Conducting Convocation 8. Web Site for Publishing results & Other information important for external students 9. Accounting System for handling Income & Expenditure of the CODL Currently CODL hasn’t a computerized system for handle all above tasks and use old computer programs for few parts above mentioned. But they are required to modify due to changing requirements. And use different software developing languages (i.e. FoxPro, VB, Access..). There for each databases can't be linked. This project aim is develop one computer system that will run all above-mentioned requirements. |
