Authors: Illesinghe, A.K.L.
Issue Date: 1-Nov-2013
Abstract: Modern computer networks tend to be large collections of computers, switches routers and assortments of other devices. As networks get larger and faster, the job of monitoring and managing them becomes a more complex task. In order to manage a large network it is necessary to use appropriate network monitoring tools. Traditional network management and monitoring tools are not always useful as they have a number of limitations. As performance of routing protocols vary with the network environment, in this project various routing protocols are analyzed to decide the suitability of them for the centralized banking network environment. Data center and the backup center are equipped with high end routers(Cisco 3845 & Cisco 3745) while branches are set up with Cisco 1841 router or Cisco 1721 router for network communication. Three service providers support the WAN. Each branch is provided with the service of two service providers. Inability in properly monitoring network traffic is a crucial factor in the data communication in the network. As the network does not have a proper protocol analysis and reporting system for network monitoring. This project will help in addressing these major issues. This will improve the quality of service and efficiency of the data center , people’s bank.
