Students Internship Management System

Abstract

This dissertation is based on individual project of the Master of Computer Science program, University of Colombo School of Computing. Target of this project is implementing a web based students internship management system to automate selection, manage the process and monitor its various activities. The developed system is based on the internship program of the final year students of Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Ruhuna. As the initial stage, existing manual systems and related research projects were analyzed and then the new system was designed. This project work presents an information system with best management practices eliminating problems of current manual and automated systems focusing on identified problems. As main contribution of this project the proposed system has been developed by implementing a strong algorithm for optimal allocation of students for internship placements. Further, the system provides automated environment to manage the essential components of the internship program such as web portal, mechanism for strong communication, activity management, well developed student assessment and evaluation.
