Abstract: This project is mainly focused at addressing a social problem with the use of information and communication technology. With the advancement of the infrastructure and technology development, the affect on humans are phenomenal. The numbers of natural disasters, human created disasters, new & dangerous sicknesses are wide spreading resulting in threatening the survival of the man kind. As a responsible citizen of this country each individual should contribute towards the well being of the human kind by parting their knowledge, effort and contributions. Therefore, the knowledge acquired in computer science would be used by the author of this document for the betterment of the human beings. The project “Relief” is a project which would address the needy people, who have been affected by human made or natural disasters and those who need medical support in terms of monetary help for surgical operations and medicine, and blood requirements. The web application would be developed in a way to communicate needs of personnel in order to gain the required monetary or goods donations. Once implemented this web application is expected to be handed over to the Ministry of Social Services and Welfare as they are the pioneering government body in the development of the social needs and welfare. This report would discuss the focus of the project, the intended outcomes and how theoretical knowledge would be used in developing a human friendly web application addressing the intended objectives. Also, it would address milestones achieved to date and the future focus areas in order to complete the project successfully.
