Title: Digital Video Fingerprint for Television Commercial Recognition
Authors: Amarasinghe, P.D.H.S.
Issue Date: 28-Oct-2013
Abstract: Digital video fingerprint is the process of embedding a distinct set of marks into a given host signal to produce a set of fingerprinted signal that each appear identical for use ,but have a slightly different bit representation form one another. These differences can ideally exploit in order to keep track of particular copy of the fingerprinted signal. In another way digital video fingerprint can be defined as a technique in which software identifies extracts and then compresses characteristic components of a video, enabling that video to be uniquely identified by its resultant “fingerprint”. Video fingerprinting is a new and emerging technology that has proven itself to be significantly more effective at identifying and comparing digital video data than either of its predecessors. Mainly Digital video fingerprints are used in digital rights management. The main objective of fingerprinting in DRM context is to protect video content from a set of attacks applied by one or more attackers. Apart from DRM, one of the major applications used with digital video fingerprint can be taken as detection and recognition of TV commercials. TV commercials are interested in many aspects. Advertisers and physiologists’ are interested in their aspects on human purchasing habits while parents might be interested in shielding their children from their influence. The project is an attempt to develop a system which performs detection and recognition of known commercials with high accuracy using digital video fingerprint. Fingerprints will be based on automatically detected audio and video features such as color, texture, motion, pitch, etc. For each commercial in a "database", will generate a fingerprint and then match these fingerprints against a TV station transmission. To implement commercial detection system using digital video fingerprint it is essential to analyse about the commercials broadcasted in a TV transmission in order to match those commercials with the transmission video. Depending on that analysis the development of ‘commercial detection system’ has been carried out.
