Authors: | Tissera, P.S.S. |
Issue Date: | 25-Oct-2013 |
Abstract: | A Web-based automated E-Pawning System has been developed for the people’s bank to allow customers to view their ongoing pawning details and Peoples’ Bank management to manage records of pawning. This system is composed of four modules: a front-end GUI interface module, an online user profile module, an online auction and bid module and a backend GUI interface module. The front-end GUI interface module includes a standard Web browser and HTML documents to interact with the users for prompting them to view Peoples Bank information. The on-line user module accepts different user access levels according to the assigned privileges. Logged customers are able to view profile and pawning information, make payments and make requests to redeem items automatically at the time of submission. Before articles are sent for auction, notices are sent to relevant customers to redeem or renew them. Bank management is given different privileges to access the information system. Top level management is given total access privileges to edit, delete, insert and view information. To maintain the security and privacy of the information system other access levels have been assigned. For example branch managers and officers are able to access specific information according to their access level. The management is able to generate reports according to customer's national identification card number, date etc. Filtered information can be exported to excel sheets to keep backups. Auction and bid module displays the ongoing auction articles and registered bidders are welcome to assign their offers. After auction period is closed item is granted to the maximum offer and can be collected at the relevant Peoples’ Bank branch by paying the dues. Ease of use is a major design goal for this system which has been successfully achieved. |
