Abstract: This is the dissertation documentation for the “Management Information System for Siri Vimalasiri Dhamma School, Wanawasala” project. The attempt was to develop a widely accessible application for the dhamma school with portals for the administration, teachers, parents and students. Therefore, the project was completed as a web based application with four user categories as mentioned above. It intends to support school management is handling school resources, human factor, students, funds, exams and student performances in an efficient manner. Administrator is the main system user who can perform configuration tasks, student – class allocations, user registration for teachers and students, fund payments and also make use of management reports regarding the dhamma school via the system. Teacher is the second main user of the application. Teacher user is provided with a separate portal for him/her self along with facilities to perform student upgrading, maintaining student attendance details, defining exams and maintaining student progress details. Both student and parent users are to view a specific portion of the system through their logins. They can view their profiles and update the details on their profiles. Students can see their performance details on the student portal and parents can view details of their children and visit children portals as visitors. Payment details for school funds are also visible for parents. Dissertation will contain the declaration of the author, a brief abstract, table of contents, list of abbreviations, list of figures and the acknowledgement along with a detailed introduction to the project, a review of background information, documentation on designing the project, evaluation information and the conclusion that carries future developments of the project. The references made to relevant parties, the set of appendices and the glossary of index will bring the dissertation to a conclusion.
