Human Resource Management System For Cooperative Insurance Co. Ltd.

Abstract

Organizations achieve their Goals and objectives through their employees who directly or indirectly interact with the customers. As the success of an organization depends on the level of satisfaction of their employees (ie. Human Resources), they should be treated as an important asset of the organization. As any other physical resource, Human Resource is scarce and therefore, it should be managed properly with due care.

Cooperative Insurance Company Limited (CICL) is a composite insurer who started Businesses in the year 1999. The total strength of the staff of the company is about 500. They include both "office staff " and "field staff ". As majority of the activities of the Human Resource (HR) division of the company are performed manually, various issues related to productivity, efficiency and timely decision making are in existence. The aim of the project is to introduce a computer based Software Application System called “Human Resource Management System” to HR division of the company which helps to overcome the said issues and improve the morale of the staff and the image of the Human Resource division. The system comprises of all the major functional areas of Human Resource Management and further includes the on-line leave approval facility. As a future development, foundation will be laid to link to the existing payroll and attendance systems to the proposed Human Resource Management System.

The dissertation documents the various stages of the development of the proposed Human Resource Management System. Starting from feasibility study, it follows the typical Software Systems Development Life cycle. At the end of the report, a self evaluation of the project conducted by the candidate and the final conclusion of the project are included.

The proposed Human Resource Management system is a PC based software application system which has been developed using “Visual Basic” language and can be installed and executed in a normal PC environment.
