As a very successful and heavily spread financial organization in Sri Lanka; Sampath Bank PLC relies seriously on their Inventory Control System to make certain that they have adequate inventory levels to satisfy the daily banking needs, in order to assure their valued customer service. The current Inventory Control System that is done using Lotus Notes language requires lot of manual inputs and the Service Department users of Sampath Bank have to keep track of the products regularly to determine how much to order and when to order as well as deliveries across the branches around the country. Most of the records are traditionally paper based; hence authority faces lots of problems with information misplacement. Also a lot of time is consumed for the manual system and as a result the bank‟s daily processes are adversely impacted. So the objective of this project is to design and develop a system that provides a solution to handle system uncertainties caused by unmeasured disturbances mentioned above. After carefully analyzing the exact requirements, a new web based Inventory Control System is proposed and designed to overcome the complexity of the current inventory process. The proposed system automatically monitors inventory amounts, provides information concerning inventory, and decides if an order for replacement inventory should be placed. ASP and C# languages are used for developments on .NET platform and Oracle 10g is used to program the database interface of the application, where the entire application can be viewed using the Internet Explorer web browser on Windows platform. Apart from the implementation, the development practice includes a proper Quality Assurance process and a user training sessions to improve the benefits of the system. An inventory control is a constant requirement that involves more than immediate and reactionary decisions that directly affect business progress. Therefore, it is an essential necessity to establish and enforce a proper system that will serve as tool in utilizing the inventory management system process in the most efficient effective manner.en_US
