dc.description.abstractColombo International School offers Chemistry as a subject for its IGCSE and AL subject combinations. Introduction of an eLearning material for their IGCSE chemistry curriculum will be helpful to improve student’s motivation towards the subject and will provide interactive learning environment for the teachers and students. The scope of the project is limited to the OL/IGCSE stream which is taught for 2 academic years. Over 90% of students of targeted group is using internet at home and it is considered as a major advantage. Project design was based on ADDIE model. Learner and content analysis was done using various tools such as observation, questionnaire and primary data. Story board and course map were used during the Instructional design phase. The learning Management System used in this project is Moodle and all the features provided by MOODLE were utilized. The eLearning course materials were developed using various tools such as Raptivity, wonder share, Camtasia etc and they were tested with students. As the next step of the project, evaluation was done in order to identify key success factors, future enhancements and areas of modification required. According to student’s feedback regarding the web site, it was a new and interesting experience for them which can enhance their learning skills. This is not a project which is just completed as a part of the degree program but this will continue to serve chemistry students in the world in the future. The ultimate goal of the Learnchem is to provide eLearning cyberspace for chemistry for all major curriculums in the world including local OL and AL curriculum.en_US
