Title: Modern Business Process Management System Concepts and Future Trends
Authors: Attanayake, S.G.
Issue Date: 24-Oct-2013
Abstract: Business Process Management Systems (BPMS) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) will usher the IT world where business users and IT will use declarative, model- driven approaches for managing work resulting in applications that will require little or no coding (configuration oriented). This is well explained by Gartner and Forrester (Independent market and technology researches) on their research reports. Since this is where IT is moving towards, it is utmost important to identify the concepts used in modern BPMS and their future trends for the benefit of IT industry and all other sectors for achieving productivity, cutting down costs, maximizing customer satisfaction, etc. In this project, mainstream BPMS vendors along with their products have been identified to study the concepts. The concepts have been documented and analyzed. Export Development Board is maintaining an exporter intensive program called Dahas Diriya. The BPMS concepts that are identified are applied in this scenario to achieve better results. (In terms of efficiency and productivity, cut down implementation cost, become environmental friendly, etc). This application is developed as a Proof of Concept (POC) application. With BPMS tools/products software development lifecycle becomes faster and return on investment will become handy due to the rich set of functionality built in to the products. Also since things become more and more developer friendly, development become more easy and faster.
