Abstract

Names are commonly used to refer or identify people, places, objects, ideas and concepts etc. Need for baby names are growing in Tamil community. The basic purpose of selecting name to their child in Tamil community is to bring a good fortune and prosperous in living. In today’s world, finding the best and short name in length to the child that goes along with modern world at the same time fulfilling their astrological and numerological belief is much harder. In this project, best solution is presented to new parents who are confused to choose the best name for their babies using the implemented Online Baby Name Selector application. Online Baby Name Selector application is designed in such way it consists of thousands of names for both genders where it has features called “quick name search” and “Advanced Baby Name Search”. The quick name search, gives the user the options to search the name based on genders, the preference of letter name should start and end and the numerological number name should added to. The Advanced Baby Name Search gives the user the options to choose the name based on the astrological and numerological limitations which grounds on child’s star/zodiac sign or date of birth of the child. It also has the feature “ User Login System”; it allows the user to not only use the Online baby name selector to choose the name for their baby but also allows to submit their choice of names to the Online baby name Selector database and rate the name of their choice. It has other additional features where the system suggests the similar names (sounds similar or rhymes familiar) to satisfy numerological or astrological aspects with different combination of alphabets which is the remarkable plus point to the Baby Name Selector application. In addition to these, it also provides the extra step which parents could links their selected names to Facebook friends and could get their opinions of initially selected names via Facebook. Online Baby Name Selector Application is implemented with the use of modern technologies and codes to make the application user friendly as possible and at the same time response to user’s request quickly and efficiently.
