Issue Date: 23-Oct-2013
Abstract: This project is to implement software product to automate the manual operations at Yard Management Department of People’s Leasing Company, who are doing their yard management operations in manual form for a long time. Currently the main problems they facing are Customer complains about loss of items in vehicles, spending lot of time to search vehicle information from manual documents for the inquiries of Leasing\Tender Department and no proper authorization process for vehicle movements in the yards. To overcome the above problems, this system has developed with two main modules, which are “Vehicle Management” and “Tender Management”. The “Vehicle Management” module includes maintaining yard information, Check-IN or Check-OUT vehicles which are having proper approvals and maintaining of item inventory of a vehicle. The “Tender Management” module includes defining the Tender calendar for the year, tender opening, selecting vehicles for the tender, entering bids to the system and closing tender. Based on that information, management can get the best bids for the vehicle and conclude the sale. System will have the proper user management module, and there will be transaction logging system to record every major transaction, this will help to control unauthorized access to company’s assets. This product has been developed using Progress 4GL 10.1 development tool and Progress 10.1 OpenEdge database for the development and the Waterfall method has been selected as the Development methodology in this project. We have prepared the user manuals and conducted user trainings for relevant users from relevant departments. Then the system has implemented and started parallel-run with their manual operations of those departments. While the paella-run we have fine tune the reports and system outputs as per to their requirements.
