Authors: Herath, A.A.C.A
Issue Date: 24-Jun-2025
Abstract: Abstract The Middle-Level Apartment Management System (MLAMS) is a web-based application designed to automate essential operations in the Lakeside Residence, a twelve-floor apartment complex in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The current manual management processes for service charge payments, rooftop bookings, maintenance requests, announcements, and small business promotions result in inefficiencies, miscommunication, and delays. To address these challenges, MLAMS introduces a centralized and automated solution that enhances apartment administration and improves resident experiences. The system is built on a three-tier architecture, comprising an Angular-based frontend, a .NET Core Web API backend, and an SQL Server database. It follows a modular design approach, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability. Key functionalities include automated service charge billing, structured rooftop booking, an e-marketplace for house owners to set up online shops, and a digital maintenance request system. The system also integrates email notifications for Monthly service charge bill, announcements, approvals, ensuring efficient communication. The development follows the Agile methodology, allowing iterative development, frequent testing, and user feedback integration. The implementation of role-based access control (RBAC) ensures secure user authentication for house owners, administrators, and maintenance managers. Entity Framework Core (EF Core) is used for database management. Testing and evaluation were conducted through unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT), involving house owners and apartment management. The feedback received confirmed that the system effectively addresses existing management issues, improving efficiency, transparency, and user satisfaction. Future improvements include mobile application development, integration of rent person functionality, implementation of a real payment gateway, and enhancements to e-shop functionalities. These upgrades will further streamline apartment management by expanding accessibility, improving financial transactions, and providing a more comprehensive marketplace for house owners. The Middle-Level Apartment Management System is a step forward in modernizing apartment administration, ensuring seamless communication, structured management, and improved living experiences for residents
