Title: Web Based Task Management System With Short Message Service

Abstract: An attempt is made to give a suitable solution for the Wishya online (Pvt) Ltd to handle their projects effectively and efficiently with employees. The proposed system would cover the activities related to project management more efficiently and systematically within an organization. Currently the wishya online handle their projects and task using paper based manual system. Therefore, Web Based Task Management System can be used for conducting its activities systematically. Nowadays Business world is getting more and more complicated due to constant change and the rate of change that takes place both internal and external environments as well as due to rapid changes and innovations taking place in IT. Due to this very reason companies find itself in a position where their tasks needs to be changed to be in line with current trends and also the constant need to look for the best person to allocate certain tasks to be efficient and effective. In this highly competitive environment company‟s very survival might depend on allocating correct employees for the correct tasks. Web based TMS can be used for any particular industry to handle their projects well. There is variety of Task Management open source systems available on the Internet. Most are general purpose applications. Those are not aimed at one particular industry. But also there is growing number of task management systems aimed specifically at one industry or another. The proposed system will have three user levels as Administrator, Manager and the employee. Each user levels will have different login interfaces to assign and monitor project, tasks and employee performances also to generate reports. System is comprised of an interfaces to facilitate input and retrieve the records, maintain employee records database, system configuration module, systematic approach to choose the most appropriate employee for the given task. The system meets all the main requirements of a TMS with new features to assign tasks and inform the employees using quickest and most practical methods by using short message service, so the employee can start the task as early as possible. The initial design is expressed in UML in terms of Use Case diagram, Class diagram, Sequence diagram, Activity diagram and ER diagram. The solution is built on 3-tier architecture using Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL technologies. The quality of the project within estimated time will be proved through a complete user acceptance test.
