Abstract: Ranking of players based on their performance is a common practice which is carried out due to many reasons such as team selection for a tournament. Suitable, selected parameters are usually used in such ranking. When there is no clear distinction between players, and the parameter values used in ranking are overlapped, the process becomes complex. In this project, a novel approach for ranking players in the game of cricket in different aspects like batting and bowling is proposed. Since parameter values are mostly linguistic and vague, a Fuzzy Logic based ranking system has been developed to analysis and prediction of player performance. The proposed system which was implemented using MATLAB has been evaluated against the well-known ICC rankings. The performance of the proposed ranking system is very competitive. The proposed system is easily adoptable to other games.
