dc.description.abstractMobile Smart Phones are expensive property and can contain much information which is confidential and in some cases sensitive to the user. Theft and/or loss of such a valuable item would be the cause of professional and/or personnel loss and anxiety. In such a case if there is a mechanism to alert the relevant parties proactively and if there is a mechanism to track the phone accurately for the whereabouts then it would do a world of good for the mobile phone users. If there is a process that could be used to improve the recovery time of the loss phones then that would be ideal for all the smart phone users. Also, if there is a way to safe guard the data which the phone contains then it would be great for the phone users. The manual process that is currently being used is very time consuming, and it adds a huge burden on the users as well. Lack of an automated solution for this problem at hand would compromise the confidential data as well as the phone itself. Here, we are making an attempt to use the Android technology, and the sensors built in to the Android phones to implement an automated frame work to identify a phone loss automatically and initiate the phone recovery process quickly by alerting the relevant parties and safeguard ones data in case of such a phone loss and also would provide a mechanism to effectively track it. The system’s alerting mechanism will be triggered in the presence of an authentication failure, via a text message and it would also consist of a mechanism to track the GPS location of the lost phone effectively via a web user interface.en_US
