Stock Management and Demand Forecasting System for Karunarathna Shopping Centre

Abstract

Karunarathna Shopping Centre is a modern retail business which located in Thalduwa, Avissawella town. Currently they are selling large varieties of items including textiles, stationaries, house hold items, foods etc... They are planning to expand their business by modifying as super market within next two years. Predicting of items which they required to improve has become a challenge for them. Also currently they maintain their inventory using a computerize system with very primary features. Predicting demand of items and inventory positioning may definitely become a tough task to them, particularly when they enlarge business. Because of the poorly maintained inventory, currently they faced more difficulties in continuous supply of goods to customers and failed to actively monitor the movement of items. This system intends to improve their stock management process and plan their item ordering process systematically by analysing and forecasting existing selling items. For analyse forecasting next two years sales use as measurement. System also upgrade with fully computerize stock management features. Considering their present situation a computerize system to measure demand forecasting for stock item with inventory handling functions is a great opportunity. Business administration can manage stocks efficiently and enable profit maximization. Also they can manage a more organized warehouse and improve accuracy of inventory orders. Furthermore they can plan and anticipate for future demand, in advance they can react immediately. The system has adapted MVC (Model View Controller) architecture and object oriented techniques. Unified Modelling Language (UML) was used for analysis and design. C# language with .NET framework 4.5 and visual studio 2017 was used to deploy the system and Crystal Reports XIII was used for report purposes, meanwhile SQL Server 2016 R2 was used to handle databases. System support in any web browsers including chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox. Since this is a web based system, it could be operated either in Windows or Linux environment. System was effectively developed and successfully implemented. According to user evaluation feedbacks, developed stock management and forecast system fulfills and satisfies requirements of Karunarathne Shopping Centre
