Internet Monitoring and Security System for End Users

Abstract

One of the most critical objects for the consideration of the entire technological industry today is the issue of Internet surfing irrespective of the age limits unlimitedly. It is true that very often, if not always, the safety factor of the children is asserted upon their parents. There is nothing abnormal in such an affirmation. Emphasizing at the same time, the freedom of the Internet is a double-edge sword. Content inappropriate for children are only a click away and it can be difficult to ensure that your children won’t fall into it. Child safety on the Internet cannot be taken for granted! This is where the importance and necessity of the parental control software arises in to our lives. When consider of this parental control system, a user-friendly system design and implementation will be the next circumstance. If there are more security functions, the system will be more secure and trustworthy hence it will be accepted by many end users. Having considering this thought it was decided to build a system to fulfill the security system for end users. In this system, there are two parties who gain the benefits. That is the person who controls the system and the person who get affected by those changes done in the system. In simple family members can be taken as an example, father is the admin of the internet security system and the children are users who browse the internet. When building this set up, there were key aspects to cover up. As usual one aspect was to be the user friendly system for the users who act as the administrator as this will be handling by mostly elder people. And the second aspect was the security, because this system is to control the unnecessary internet browsing. Hence every nook and cranny of unnecessary internet browse must be denied for the users. Hence the conclusion was made that Linux is the best Operating System for this implementation as Linux Operating System is more secured and once it has been implemented it will be last long. The system has started from how the each and every user can be authenticated independently as the latest feature has introduced from the squid proxy server and then blocking web sites and their contents with various kinds of aspects. And php, Apache web server with MySql data base will be using to build this system.
