Online Bus Ticket Reservation System

Abstract

This document is a dissertation on the completion and problems that occurred throughout the project and finishes with an evaluation on the outcome of the project. The project was to create an online bus ticket reservation system, which gives a featured online solution for bus ticket reservations in Sri Lanka. The system mainly facilitates online bus ticket reservations, querying available schedules, seat mapping and listing daily reservation for each schedule and report generation. Latest software development tools and software such as Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server Reporting and .NET framework 3.5 have been used to develop the system. A domain name and a hosting place have been placed for the live hosting of the system. The entire system development project was carried out according to the domains identified in the analysis part of the project life cycle. Manageable phases were formulated to measure the quality, time, resources and to have better control over the project. These phases are discussed in this report. This project is completely and only for academic purpose and I was solely responsible in analyzing, designing, implementing and testing the system. The project was planned and carried out by me with the guidance of the people who are mentioned in the acknowledgement.
