Title: Inventory Management and Order Processing System for Yodagama Timber Dealers

Abstract: This system is an integrated inventory management and an order processing system which is developed with the intension of enhancing the operational efficiency of the chosen client. Currently the client is maintaining a manual system subjected to traditional internal controls and allocated to set of authorized personnel to handle. Requirement analysis was done using different techniques to identify the problems and limitations of the existing methods. The realization of the inefficiency of the usage of traditional methods leads to automate the system to improve efficiency and performance of the company. Web based order processing and stock management system was decided to develop, as a solution. The new system was designed with a web based interface where the suppliers and customers can access online and with a normalized inventory database. It facilitates online orders, calculate re order levels, record online transactions and maintain stock levels etc. The system is also capable of generating some important reports such as sales of different items, availability of stocks, most valuable customers etc. Different methodologies were analyzed and done feasibility study to identify the most appropriate method which suits the new system during design stage. The user interfaces and the database design was planned to ensure a well-designed system. The system was developed during the implementation stage. Many tools and technologies were used for coding. CodeIgniter is an open source, free software which has great options and features, is used to develop the web framework of the system. Bootstrap which intended for an easy design of the interfaces of dynamic web sites, is used to design the frontend web framework of the system. MySQL is used to develop the database.
