Abstract: ABSTRACT Gayana Hotel and Beach restaurant is a small sized hotel which was started in 1990; it is one of the popular hotel in Hambantota district, which plays an important role in Sri Lankan tourism industry. As a hotel which interact with the customers daily it should have a systematic way to handle information and activities efficiently. Currently it has manual and paper based system to handle their day today activities. Due to this, hotel faces lot of inconvenience. As a solution hotel can get an aid from the information technology. The Hotel Management System is built to reduce and overcome these problems and will increase the competency and efficiency of their work. The proposed system is develop to cover the process of the hotel such as Human resource management, Resource management, Services management, Package management, Notification management, Analysis management and User account management. The system has adapted Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and object oriented techniques. In addition Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used for analysis and design. Hypertext Pre Processor (PHP) which is a server side scripting language was used to build the system. Also it was selected XAMPP as the development environment for the system, MySQL as the database environment and apache servers as the web server. The coding of the system was carried out using the NetBeans IDE 8.0.1. Specific design principles and technologies were used to develop the system. The System has been developed to fulfill the user and system requirements deal with new technologies and enable hotel to face competition in the industry. It could also help the hotel administration to work efficiently and enable profit maximization through this newly introduced web based system.
