Abstract: ABSTRACT Trevene Hotel is one of the famous Hotel in Srilanka and it is situated in Nuwara-eliya district. This Hotel is used by many Guests because it is the main hotel in Nuwaraeliya Town. The Hotel Group does not have proper computer based system to handle Reservations, Rooms, Bills, Payments, Guest management,Reports..etc. The introducing system,Web based Hotel Management System which has implemented for Trevene Hotel will automate the major operations of the hotel. The Reservation System is to keep track in room and hall reservation and check availability. The Room Management System is for manage all room types room services. The Inventory Control System will keep track in all inventories of the hotel and guest details will handled by guest management. Web based Hotel Management System is to simplify the day to day processes of the hotel. The system will be able to handle many services to take care of all customers in a quick manner. As a solution to the large amount of file handling happening at the hotel, this software will be used to overcome those drawbacks. As a result of above mentioned facts the proposed system is more efficient, reliable and time saving than the current manual system The methodology used for development of the system is Rational Unified Process (RUP) and it allows the use of Object Oriented System Development employing Unified Modelling Language (UML) for system designing. Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP) which is a powerful server-side scripting language is used to build the System. Hyper Text Mark-up language (HTML) and Java Scripts are using to handle client side and MYSQL is using as the Database Management system. Apache is using as the web server. Hence the company decides to switch effective IT solution to solve their mentioned problems. The owner’s personal request motivated me to develop this project.
