Title: Online Computer Lab Sessions For Matugama Ananda Sastralaya

Abstract: Information and Communication Technology is a new subject which was introduced in 2006 to Sri Lankan education system. First G.C.E Ordinary Level examination for ICT subject was held in 2007. There were only few students who selected ICT as an optional subject. Since this was a new subject, only a limited amount of resources and learning materials are available for both teachers and students. Matugama Anada Sastralaya is a prominent National school in Matugama educational district. School is educating around 2500 students. School has a computer lab with 15 computers. This computer Lab is not enough for the number of students who following ICT. To overcome the inadequate lab facilities an Online Learning Environment can be introduced to the students. This system will provide enough time and practical exercise to improve student’s practical knowledge without considering the shortages of school computer lab. Main purpose of this project is to provide a better learning experience for G.C.E (O/L) ICT students and effective teaching tools for teachers by designing and developing an e-learning based course materials. After analyzing the students’ and teachers’ requirements four practical lessons were selected from the grade 11 syllabus. Each practical lesson will be consists with learning materials, activities, quizzes, assignments and forums. The system will provide communication among the students and teacher through chat sessions. Moodle will be used to create the LMS. Xerte tool kit was used to create the Scorm objects. Camatsia 8 was used to create the video lessons.
