Title: An online course for Sunshine healthcare Lanka Ltd Training to use the company Business Intelligence Tool

Abstract: Sunshine Healthcare Lanka Ltd is one of the largest pharmaceuticals importers and distributors in Sri Lanka. The company goes through a complex management and business process every day which includes importation, marketing, sales, human resources management, stock handling and distribution Sales improvement is the most essential process that should look into. To comply with this, company sales system, distribution system, marketing and importation related functions and worker motivation techniques have to be scrutinized to find a sustainable solution. Currently the essential sales analysis is done using spreadsheet applications and system reports. More deep analysis and monitoring is difficult as there is no proper way /tool to do so. But the obligation of the company is to achieve sales target in time. To do so efficient decision making, implementing and monitoring/analyzing are required.In order to meet this requirement, the company internal IT team developed and implement a business intelligence (BI) tool which is internally called “Data cube”. After implementing this system, the company realized that organizing and conducting trainings are much difficult because there are more than 100 employees to use this tool. The project reported in this dissertation, attempted to solve this issue by designing, developing and implementing an online course to train the staff to use the BI tool. Project started by analyzing the training need, stakeholders, and eLearning readiness, and also by conducting a SWOT analysis. Furthermore, the learner and leaners’ tasks, contexts, and learning content were analyzed to take decisions regarding instructional design. Based on the analysis results an online course was designed. The course consisted of two parts: Basic and Advance. Course maps and storyboards were drawn to design the system. Xerte toolkit was used to develop the course material. Moodle learning management system was installed in a server having Xampp and MySQL The course was delivered to a sample group of learners through the Moodle based learning management system. The sample group evaluated the online course and provided their comments and suggestions to improve the course. Based on the evaluation results, the dissertation reports about some improvements that can be done in the future.
