ELECTION COMPLAINT TRACKING SYSTEM

Abstract

The recent explosive growth of the Information Technology in the world has made most manual systems to be automated to get the best out of them. Today, it is hard to imagine any industry or business that has not been affected by computer- based information systems and computer applications. Information Technology offers the opportunity to collect and store enormous volumes of data, process transactions with greater speed and accuracy, and provide timely and relevant information for management. Considering the above factors, this System to track Election Complaints will be very effective to the Election Commission to enhance and improve their day-to-day operations, conflict management as well as to take strategic decisions.This system describes the methods of requirements collection, a comprehensive analysis, architectural and detailed design, development and implementation details, evaluation methods and the ways of further enhancements. The system also provides information on Election Officers and General Public of the Election Commission and information about complaints and also to interface to the web.The software system provides a user friendly Graphical User Interface comprising of an efficient method that transfers the data into interface. It acts rapidly to display where the incident is taking place, which will greatly help the user to extract the information, needed to take decisions. Another advantage of the software is the portability to any platform. During this project there is a higher risk of variation of requirements, so it is needed to use iterative development methodology. To achieve that goal Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology is used for analysis and design approach.The system has been developed using PHP as the implementation language. The MySQL server serves as the platform for the database. Yii 2.0 frame work is used for the development frame work. Using the above technology will facilitate the transfer of high volume of data and the powerful data querying facility, the management of the Election Commission will be benefited in storing the details of citizen and retrieving the vital management reports as well. PHP is used as the scripting language to make it web enabled. PHP is selected because it is one of the open source software and also it is cheaper than other software. The evaluation has been done by the senior management of the Election Commission at various levels. All the critical activities have been thoroughly tested. Test plan is developed after considering all the functional details as well as some of the most important non-functional details. Test results were validated with user’s requirements. The system is to be implemented at the Election Commission and it is expected that it would greatly help the Election Commission administration to manage conflicts and to create levelly playing field for all politicians and electors.
