Abstract

In today’s world, news information’s are delivered to the audience in many ways. It can be Television, Radio, Newspaper or Web. Most important features of a news is accuracy, the speed it reaches to its audience and accessibility for that news source. Because of these three factors, news reporter’s job becomes more competitive than the past.With emergence of Internet and the growth of the technology, bridges world into a one village. What’s happens on North Pole can communicate to the South Pole within shorter period of time. Now a day’s people don’t have time to watch television or listen to radios to self-update on news. They are busy with their day to day work. But there is one common thing they are using/carrying while working or travelling. That is Mobile device. Over 60% of these mobile device users are connected to the internet as well. Not like old days, people are also willing to get news as soon as they can. Online news channel which can access via mobile device will good solution to have.“On Field Reporter” is a news feed channel which is hosted on the internet. It has a back office web application to manage news feeds and front end public website to show news to its audience/readers. Back office users (Editor, Sub Editors, and Reporters) can add news to the system with images/videos which relevant to the news articles which their adding. Editors and sub editors can manage news article from the back office system. They can edit, approve and publish appropriate news articles to public website. Public website will update news according to the order which they added to the system. Editors can manage users from the system like adding users, remove users and edit users. Back office application and public website are responsive, which means both back office users and news readers can access this system/website via any desktop device or mobile device which connected to the internet.The system is hosted using apache web server as the server environment, PHP as the development language and My SQL as the database management system. Object oriented techniques in PHP were used to enhance the performance and security of the system.This system is developed by using incremental development methodology.
