Abstract: Green Cabs (Pvt) Ltd is a leading Taxi service provider facilitating customers to hire vehicles. Now they do their operations in manually. Prior to automation of hiring a taxi, it has been a complicated process to handle manual documenting operations. Managing the fleet and driver details, retrieving and keep track of hire requests, inefficiency and resource wastage were the main problems faced by the employees in this company when dealing with daily activities. Therefore, the purpose of developing this system is to overcome such issues by providing a web based system. A Taxi management system computerizes hire request handing related tasks and facilitating customers to make online booking. I endeavor to improve and maintain the standards, quality and efficiency of the taxi management system. Overall system functionalities mainly focused on the vehicle reservation through online, needs of the hire request handing officers of the company and regular management procedures. It allows officers to minimize time consuming activities when servicing requests by use of web and mobile technologies. System will be able reduce telephone costs, reduce the response time for a request and eliminate repetitive work such as managing customers, drivers, booking and the fleet. One of the most critical problems is to track and update taxi location frequently; with use of GPS technology system was able to provide a complete solution. A User friendly System that was able to use reservation. Update the status through various notification methods including automated call. Furthermore this system will allow managing general data using an administration screen. This system designed based on Object Oriented Analysis. Core system is developed based on open source technologies. JAVA is chosen as the main programming language, Hibernate, Struts, Spring Frameworks which makes the system highly reliable, maintainable and user-friendly. PostgreSQL is used as the database management system. Apache tomcat is used as the web server. With the support of Google Maps API, the system provides various features. Separate Android mobile application is being developed to communicate with taxis through internet with based on Android SDK API Level 9.
