SALES MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR WHOLESALE VEGETABLE MERCHANDISING

Abstract

The client is involved in a commission based wholesale vegetable merchandising process. Vegetables sent by the suppliers (farmers) in upcountry areas are sold to the retailers by the client on daily existing prices. The client earns a commission from the sales where the rate of commission varies with the supplier. The current process of the client is totally manual. For example Bills are created by writing, calculations are done using calculators and lots of paper works are included which are highly inefficient and inappropriate for today. These things require lot of hard works including going through bill books and calculating manually which are time consuming and can be erroneous. Proposed Sales Management System is an attempt to overcome all of these drawbacks by assisting to handle the current business process in a manageable, effective and time saving manner. The system has created a proper mechanism to handle the daily sales management process of the business and a proper debt management process for handle retailers who buy vegetables on credit. Also the system has facilitated a daily sales report generation module along with a highly effective managerial report generation part which can be effectively used to make better business decisions. This system has facilitated 6 different types of reports to generate different business information. As per the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Waterfall model has been identified as the most suitable model for this system. Java was the programming language used to implement this system and MySQL Server 5.5 was used as the Database Management System. NetBeans IDE 7.2tool with JDKwas used as the environment for code development supporting and the System was developed as a Standalone application.
