Authors: Rajaratnam, T.
Issue Date: 26-Nov-2015
Abstract: The main goal of this study is to design and implement a mobile application for veterinary doctors to reduce paper works and increase efficiency of record keeping in mobile technology. Nowadays mobile applications are powerful computational platforms not only for general use but also for multiple special purpose computation. As mobile devices also can perform complete multitasking same as simple computer with same computing speed, performance and accuracy it became possible. Multiple platforms define with their respective operating systems such as android, IOS, Windows, BlackBerry OS, Bada OS decides the application development for the own native platforms. In other case there is dozens of hybrid application development platform which helps to built mobile application for different platforms such as Phonegap, Titanium, Sencha touch etc competing with native application development. Few of them gives developers’ free resources and few charging for license. Here for this project mobile application has been built for android platform using hybrid application development technology with phonegap after proper research. The entire process on system design, implementation and evaluation of the system, been discussed in upcoming topics. This mobile application developed in Android platform using hybrid application development technology with phonegap (a cordova framework), it also includes a server module build using java swing technology to transfer data, for onsite visiting veterinary doctors. This volume dwells on multiple phases, in the first phase of the volume, the aims and objectives have been reviewed and priority has been given to the processes involved real time activities. In the second part, results of survey of existing systems are presented. These show the real need of the system. In the detailed central part, the thesis provides analysis and design of the mobile application, including diagrams for multiple tasks inside the application. At the fourth phase discussed about the technologies applied to the application. In fifth phase, the result of the project is presented. The performance of the application tested with multiple test cases. Application was evaluated critically to identify the accuracy of the outputs and user controls for more than one month test phase even it is tested on implementing every modules. Each test phase went through multiple tests, evaluation and bug fixes. Finally the results of the project shows the application is fulfilled the requested scenarios with some limitations. Application encountered issues in integration google map api. Also recommended to develop a web based system to give more facilities, more advanced features for veterinary hospital managements.
