dc.description.abstract | The intention of this thesis was developing a heart monitoring application for the open source Android operating system exclusively for mobile devices such as Smartphone. Android is very flexible and provides many tools for developing applications. The open source application development tool Android Studio was used for the development. This application completely runs and process in a Smartphone which uses a modified stethoscope as the sound capturing device. The captured sound is transformed in to a waveform which is compared against waveform audio template representing normal heart condition. The audio comparison has to run on the mobile phone therefore, require a lightweight audio comparison algorithm. The user is able to record heart sound using the application. It also allows the user or the cardiologist to play back the recorded heart sound any time when required. The application also provides an option to register a user. The user record is saved in a SQLite database of the application and can be viewed, modified or deleted. If the audio comparison does not find a match between real time audio capture and the audio template, it will automatically trigger an alarm and lets the user to inform the respective situation to a cardiologist and a family member through the SMS module made available in the application. | en_US |
