Title: Interpret Security Data on Wi-Fi Hotspots through Mobile Application
Authors: Nawarathne, A.R.
Issue Date: 8-Jul-2015
Abstract: Wireless Networks, which is people are most concern in the new Era has been leading discussion topic in the worlds now. When the computer network is introduce to the world people may not be think that they can implemented Wireless networks in the future but we all are experiencing the use of wireless networks. But, is the Wireless networks are secure? With compared to Wired networks, the first impression that we feel is wireless networks are less secure compared to wired networks. The truth is both networks are more secure than the past and wireless networks are more secure in some cases. The people's impression about wireless networks are because of lack of security implementation on the networks available and hackers were able to get unauthorized access the network with the weak security implementation. Then, the question is how we identify the weak security implementation and how we can address those security concerns. As the wireless networks also known as Wi-Fi networks are basically divided in to two major groups, the Open Wi-Fi and Secured Wi-Fi both groups’ networks can be vulnerable. The thesis is describing the security concerns which can be caused to wireless networks with the security implementation which those networks are has. And then the most common security implementation that these networks are missing will be discussed. As the information of these wi-fi networks are gathered using Mobile App, the system will be interpreted these information to the end users and security implementation teams can be focus on these misconfigurations, and address security concerns accordingly. The report will suggest tools and applications to implement Mobile App to do the data collection and present how the interpreted data is publish and the features and information that can be get from the published website.
