Title: Examination Record Management System
Authors: Liyanage, M.S.
Issue Date: 6-Jul-2015
Abstract: Examination Record Management System, as the name implies can be used as a means to administrate students, courses, subject assignments and marks. Managing exam marks and giving final results accurately and efficiently is the main purpose of this system. Most of the universities use a manual system or a custom made system due to various reasons. However, handling large volumes of data manually is time consuming and leads to delays in decision making, especially when it comes to end of semesters. The objectives of this project are to identify the problems in the manual process of UCSC and provide a solution based on ICT to improve efficiency, speed up the process and decision making. By considering the customer requirements, performance and the speed, a web application is created. Code to interface approach was used by following the Model View Control design pattern and high cohesion and low coupling achieved by going to layered architecture. Java, JAX-RS, JSP were used as the language and SQL was used to handle the database of the system. Based on testing and evaluation, the author is able to conclude that the system helps to improve the university‟s administration tasks. However, further improvements such as making the system available on mobile and automating the entire process of the university, not just the examination records would provide a better ease for the users
