Title: Web Based Budget Control System

Abstract: This document describes the development of the Web Based Budget Control System which facilitates to automate the manual process of allocating and handling the budget dedicated to the marketing department of Bank of Ceylon in an effective way. During the growth of a competitive global environment, there is considerable pressure on most organizations to make their operational and tactical processes more efficient and effective. Maintain the budget on the paper based documents in decentralized manner is a big barrier for the marketing department to achieve their business goals. This centralized system is aimed to eliminate the paper based work, provide various reports and an inquiry module to make quicker, better decisions. The core concept of the system is to track all the advertisement requests and payments made through the marketing department with additional features for interpreting the data. It uses a client-server model with a connected database to allow multiple users to be connected. Asp .NET technologies are used to implement the system and Microsoft SQL server is used for data storage. In order to achieve the high quality and user satisfaction with the least cost, time and well planned development process, Hybrid Agile model is used. Evaluation and testing of the software solution was carried out to validate and verify the system from both developer and user point of view. Some staff members of marketing department were involved in evaluating the new system and identifying how far is the system achieved look and feel, Security, functionality and usefulness. Positive feedback from users proved the system fulfills identified requirements; is easy to use, extremely helpful and beneficial over the manual process.
