dc.description.abstractThere has been a dramatic increase in the application of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in the higher education sector in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) is a government satuatory body offering diplomas to A/L students who are not qualified to enter state universities. With the aim of moving towards student centered learning they have introduced a moodle based Learning Management system recently. As they are offering 10 Diplomas through 18 institutes islandwide, a centralized LMS will facilitate in maintaining a consistent course content for all the students in all the institutes , enhance student collaboration and act as a tool for student assessment. Through this project the “Mathematics for Computing “ course is implemented successfully providing interactive lessons, continous assessments and collaboration facilities. The ADDIE model was used during the lifecycle of development and LMS was implemented on Moodle 2.7. The study results indicated that the student satisfaction with online learning is high . Students have positive perception towards the use of the proposed system and it has ease their learning process. Further, the findings revealed that the lectureres preferred to use it as part of their course delivery.en_US
