Abstract: This thesis presents research carried out on intelligent automated testing in software development. As software development life cycle of a project is goes on, a frequently triggering bad situation is unable to deliver the product as planned. One reason effects is, bouncing the product releases at the quality assurance. If the product is fully tested at the development phrase, there want be any issues found at testing phrase. Within the tight schedules that the developers work, they will not be able to cover the whole testing scope. The main objective of this study was to avoid rejecting the release at quality assurance stage due to insufficient testing performed at the development stage. There is a huge gap between the product testing performed at development and testing phrases. If we are able to increase the product testing scope at the development phrase, we will be able to achieve the aim of this research. The solution discovered in this study is Intelligent Web Application Validation Checker (IWAVC). IWAVC is an intelligent tool which can be used for web based application testing. Furthermore IWAVC is a smart tool which can make decisions and act based on it. IWAVC is capable of automatically generating a test plan for a web page given and execute the plan against the page. Identification of HTML element via the tool is 100% accurate. The decisions taken by the tool regarding the test plan is most of the time falls within 80% -90% accuracy rates. There can be deviation if the web page keyword search fails. IWAVC can be improved to use this tool at software testing stage (currently it is targeting on software development stage). Also by extending browser support the usability of the tool can be increased.
