Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: APSS International Networks (Pvt) Limited ( College of Engineering studies) was formed with the intension of providing A High Quality Higher Education, especially in the field of Engineering as an approved Centre in Sri Lanka by City & Guilds (UK) (Approved No. 844022) to provide City & Guilds Programme. Their student management process is running on a manual system since it's initiation. As a result, the administration role is being faced lot of problems such as data redundancy, data inaccuracy and delay in decision making due to unavailability timely reports and information. The web based Student Management System (WBSMS) is built to overcome some of the problems and inefficiencies of the current manual system. This solution is built to be covered the overall student management processes of the institute. The system is forecasted into two administrative layers such as management & student web portals. The full rights admin profile will be assigned to Manager, co-ordinator, lecturers and receptionist with further hierarchical privilege access. Based on their privilege system users can update data of student registering, course details, course level details, student payment details, subject s details, lecturer s details, class schedule details, batch detail. Further, this system is capable of filtering the unpaid students details and send due payment notification to respective students. Also a low level access privilege assigned to the students for them to view their payment history, marks, attendance and update their profile. Further this System is capable of generating different types of management reports such as Income report, due payment report, Individual marks report, batch wise marks report, student attendance report and batch/course wise student count report. Which help the management of this institution to analyse data and take necessary action when any changes required for their betterments. Unified modelling language was used in the analysis and design phase of the development. UML diagrams such as use-case diagram, class diagram and etc were drawn to explain the functionality of the system in detail. Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 is used to implement the system in PHP and HTML with the help of Apache web server and MySQL.
