Issue Date: 16-May-2015
Abstract: Deshodaya Development Finance Company Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as DDFC ) is a large-scale finance company in Sri Lanka. DDFC has 30 branches and 32 service centers located in island wide. This company has been operated a Manual Inventory Control System and Manual Support Desk System. End of the each month head office had a huge workload on creating monthly records and statistics. So the old manual updating methods were very hard in maintaining. So this unsuccessful system and methods were time consuming. Therefore the company was in a need of maintaining a web based solution for this. The Support Desk and the Inventory Management System were introduced in order to resolve above difficulties. The purpose of the system was to automate inventory records update and speed up the support desk procedures. In addition there is another important management module which is "call center management system". When a staff member needs to inform head office regarding software or hardware issues, he/she is able go through the help menu of the site. If the Help menu doesn t satisfy their requirement, they can contact the call center agent through mail/phone. Then the agent will be able to find a solution using the system. So there is a separated troubleshoot menu available for the call center associate too. We have used Rational Unified Model (RUP) as the system life cycle. System was implemented on a server-side scripting language using PHP as it s a server-side scripting language. To design and analyze the system, I have used the Object Oriented Modeling Language with Apache and the MySQL database. The automated system was successfully launched in the client s computer after evaluating the system with proposed requirements. Therefore the client met all the requirements and company improved their productivity as a result of system outcome through effectiveness and efficiency.
