Abstract: Warehousing, being an essential component of logistics, is a key aspect of modern supply chains & plays a critical role in the success or failure of business today. Therefore, Warehouse Management Systems are becoming a more common approach & a newer business trend for most business companies stated worldwide. A Warehouse Management System is design for the Wickramasinghe (Pvt) Ltd. to enhance the performance of the warehouse & to increases its efficiency. They suffer with a huge load of manual functions& the project is designed to solve up all of these problems. The main purpose of the system is to automate stock management, purchase management, order issuing management, employee management & salary calculation. This will create a centralized controllability over the warehouse. This system is going to be developed to suit standalone environment. This solution also support stock refill automation, tracking order management, user privilege management, etc. Moreover, the developed system automates the controlling of the above processes to minimize wastage, avoid misconducts & increase the efficiency. The system is capable of generating various reports which facilitate decision making of the top management. The system provides search mechanisms & notifications in order to enhance day-to-day activities which reduce manual effort, expands the availability of data & this will support top level management to achieve their business goals & future business improvements by decision making. The development process follows the modern standard software engineering methodologies to maintain the standard of the system to guaranty the quality, security & usability of the system. This windows based solution is going to be developed using technologies such as java, MYSQL, Hibernate & jasper reports mainly. Also, the system follows MVC Architecture. Furthermore, the system covers new technological approaches & proposes some future development activities to enhance the capability of the system. The Warehouse Management System has been developed to solve out the all the difficulties of the existing system to enhance the efficiency of the warehouse.
