Title: Web Based Salon Management System for Salon Dilu

Abstract: Hair and beauty industry is one of most expanding businesses in Sr i Lanka. Salon Dilu is a ladies hair and beauty service provider which was established in 2006. The company started in small scale but since its fast growing success now it has become a leading salon in the area. Salon Dilu offers it s clients a full range of hair care services, beauty treatments and br idal services. In present all these business tasks are done manually. Due to these manual procedures, management has faced lot of inconveniences like scheduling conflicts, payment handling issues and contact s managing issues. To overcome these issues and increase the efficiency, the management has decided to develop and implement a salon management system with online appointment scheduling facility. This system is basically developed to manage customer appointments and payment handling. In addit ion, the system is capable of customer registrat ions, customer profile handling, payment calculat ion and receipts handling, sending email alerts, managing service informat ion, employee per formance management and managing reports. The system is developed based on open source technologies. Mainly Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and Object Or iented techniques were used. The syst em is imp lement ed based o n t he Co deig nit er frame wo rk and PHP is used as the main programming language. MySQL is used as the database management system. Apache web server is used as the processing server. Javascr ipt and jQuery have been used as the client side scr ipt ing languages. Boostrap has been used as the frontend framework which contains the HTML and CSS. The system was thoroughly tested by using a mult i-stage test ing process which included unit test ing, integrat ion test ing, system test ing and acceptance test ing. The system fulfills all user requirements as expected.
