Abstract: Petra Engineering Services (pvt) ltd., is a Sri Lankan based private and limited liability company. It is mainly involved in designing, fabrication & construction of steel antenna towers for telecommunication, radio, television networks. It is also engaged in related civil construction projects for telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka. The major goal of this system is to design and develop an online management information system for our client company to automate their business process. It provides suitable facilities for stakeholders such as coordinators, project managers & top managers by providing a suitable interfaces. This enables to simplify and reduce the time needed for information and procedure management relating to day to day activities. The entire system was divided into few modules, namely Administration, Coordinator, Sales, Project Manager and Top Manager, Reporting. This project will lead and find it easier to keep the records of project details, project expenses, site details, purchase orders & invoices, profit and loss. Also the System provides facilities to generate various types of reports while providing secure method to preserve their personal and business related information. According to the present Software Engineering theories and by studying the problem domain, the IID (Iterative and incremental development) was identified as the most suitable development methodology based on its flexible developing theory and related advantages in comparison to other software methodologies. Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 (Creative Suite 6) is used to implement the system in PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) language with the assistance of MySQL in the Windows environment. Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used in the analysis and design stages of the project and implementing. At the end of this development process, the web based system which was tested by many users of the company, was successfully handed over to the client to enhance their company day to day business process.
