Commercial Advertising Web Site for Venasa Poth Piyasa

Abstract

Venasa Poth Piyasa is a book shop and communication center which sells printed books, stationeries and provides telecommunication services, located in Monaragala. They are advertising in newspapers, television channels and spend thousands of money for it. Therefore Venasa Poth Piyasa is planning to introduce its own web based application in advertising. The system has six main parts, namely registration, sell items (post advertisements), buy items (view and select), admin control panel, reports and a shopping cart with online payment facility. New users, who are willing to use the site, can register and post their relevant advertisements or requirements. Buyers can browse the site and choose from existing items. System admin will select advertisements according to the policy and publish them on the site. For the tracking purposes, site admin can generate wide range of reports accordingly. Customers of Venasa Poth Piyasa can purchase stationery items online via the shopping cart. The web application is being developed by using Notepad++. MySQL Server 5.1 is using as the database server and PHPMyAdmin as the GUI frontend for MySQL database creation and administration. The coding language is PHP. WAMP server version 2.2 (Apache version 2.2.22, PHP version 5.3.13 and MySQL version 5.5.24) is using as the web development platform on Windows. Unified Modelling Language (UML) used in the analysis and design phases. Rational Rose used to draw Use case, Activity, Class and Sequence Diagrams while MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE used to draw Entity Relationship Model. At the end of the project, Venasa Poth Piyasa will be having a web application to publish own advertisements and third party advertisements as well.
