Title: MATERNAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FOR MOH OFFICE KURUNEGALA

Abstract: Health services related to maternal and child health considered as one of the most important facts in the government and the private health sector, because maternal health is also considered as a scale of measuring development of a country. Office of MOH (Medical Officer of Health) which is the smallest unit responsible for the health of pregnant mothers is currently adopting a manual process with full of documentation. The MOH is facing problems in collecting, storing, analyzing, managing and securing of collected sensitive data while the number of pregnant mothers increase with the population. The Maternal Health Care System which was built for this scenario is a web based system and it will facilitate the functions followed by Public Health Mid Wives, by maintaining the details of pregnant mothers and managing regular visits to houses. Registration of pregnant mothers and eligible families is done by using an Android application with their GPS locations. The system consist of an Automated Notification system and SMS reminders to inform about the clinic dates and upcoming deliveries. Maternal Health Care System enables Cloud Storage and File Sharing among users. Report Generation functionalities can be used to analyze data. Due to the uses of Mobile Responsive Interfaces these functions can be monitored by any Mobile Device and from any location. The methodology used for the development of this system is Rational Unified Process (RUP) and it allows the use of Object Oriented System Development employing Unified Modeling Language (UML) for the system designing. The web based system was implemented by using PHP as the Server Side Language together with MYSQL as the Database Server and Apache as the Web Server. The web application was developed by using HTML, CSS, JQuery and Bootstrap 3.0 to make the application responsive. Further, Photoshop CS6, Notepad++ and NetBeans IDE were aided for the phases of design and development. By using the Maternal Health Care System the client, MOH office Kurunegala is being able to overcome their main drawbacks prevailed in the traditional paper based system such as low accuracy and low efficiency. The system will help the MOH office of Kurunegala to drive into a new stage in the field of maternal health.
